UCS Influence, Advocacy, Lead to Colorado Battery Recycling Win
UCS helped draft Colorado legislation for the strongest EV battery recycling policy in the US and used local media to make the case for its passage; the bill, which will extend the useful life of EV batteries and keep them out of landfills, is now law.
Bill Protecting Federal Scientists Gains Heavy-Hitting Support
After years of UCS advocacy, the Scientific Integrity Act has been reintroduced in the Senate with 21 co-sponsors, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. The legislation would safeguard the rights of scientists working at federal agencies.
UCS Slows US Forest Service Restructuring Plans
After UCS staff, supporters, and partners called out a senseless plan for the US Forest Service to close multiple research facilities, the agency changed its language in its proposed plans, and announced at least one facility will stay open.
