Anthony Tindall

Anthony Tindall currently serves as the Director of Sustainability for the Solid Waste Management Program for Virginia’s Fairfax County. In this role, he oversees a transfer station, community recycling drop-off stations, and related diversion programs. He supports efforts to advance the County’s zero waste goals and manages over 100 employees that work to provide critical services to a community of 1.2 million residents. Prior to joining Fairfax County, he served as the Solid Waste Coordinator for Illinois’s Cook County. In that role, he served as the County’s senior regulator of the solid waste industry and was responsible for the implementation of the County’s zero waste and circular economy related plans and activities. Previously, Anthony worked for nine years as the Policy & Sustainability Manager for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. In that role, he managed the policy, sustainability and climate resiliency agenda, staff, and programs for the 70,000-acre public lands agency. Anthony received his Master of Public Administration degree from DePaul University. He is the past Secretary of the Illinois Recycling Foundation's Board of Directors and past Vice-Chair of the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources-Advisory Board. In 2024, Anthony was named a notable leader in sustainability by Crains Chicago Business.
