Coreen Weintraub is the Western States Associate Director at the Union of Concerned Scientists. In her role, she works with scientists, analysts, and policy experts to craft outwardly facing campaigns that connect UCS expert and supporter networks with opportunities for action. Based in Oakland, Coreen focuses on helping California build a climate-resilient water system, expand access to electric vehicles, and transition to clean electricity.
Prior to joining UCS, Coreen was a campus organizer for the Public Interest Research Group, where she worked with college students to develop grassroots organizing skills and run successful campaigns registering young people to vote, defending California's landmark climate legislation, and banning single-use plastic bags in the state.
Coreen earned a BA in anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
